Location: Elgin, Illinois | Folks, I had a need for some mounts for my handline reels and had a tough time finding them. Eventually got in touch with Dean Marshall at Evert's Resort (Red Wing, MN on the Wisconsin side, just down the road from one of Komo's "fav" chicken shacks). Dean hooked me up faster than a New York minute.
So, if you get into a spot or just need tackle or gear for river fishing, try Dean.

Location: LaCrosse, WI | I just won a St. Croix Avid 69MLXF from Everts and Dean hooked me up. I was going to spring for the Pflueger Supreme, but Dean stuck the President series on there to show me the balance factor. He was right, it felt better with the President.
That saved me some money right there. Within a few minutes I was rigged up with 8lb Crystal Fireline, the new reel, the new rod, some Hot Sauce reel lube, a crapload of new blade baits, and some jigs. Dean even helped me decide that I didn't need live bait on this day. How many baitshop owners will tell you when you don't need minnows? (not very many). I'm not the type that usually believes the hype, but I was pretty happy with my experience.
Thanks again Dean.

What kind of blade baits does he have? I used to get some from Hutch that were "oval" shaped like the Cotton Cordell Gay Blade and paionted up nicely. I'd like to find a new source. Hutch doesn't do blade baits anymore. |

And, have you been using the Crystal Fireline before this? I am still using only the smoke. Had some bad vibes from others on the Crystal and pulled it off a couple of reels. |

Location: LaCrosse, WI | He Carries the BFishn blade baits. I think they're the exact same as the Heddon Sonars (I believe they got rights from Heddon to use the same design). They're very good IMO.

Check out the Gold Plated and the Orange Glow Tiger!!!
I have used the Crystal since last spring. I never really liked braids at all until this last year. I haven't had any problems with it. The only thing I do is make sure that I put mono backing on my reels. I can feel everything with that stuff.
I also like the 8lb since it's such a thin diameter. It really cuts the current better than the thicker mono. I like to fish 1/4 oz blades, so I need the thinner diameter. For verticle jigging a bigger 1/2 oz in current, I like 10lb xt or 12lb xt so the blade flutters more. |

Location: LaCrosse, WI | By the way Rich,
You need to come up here this summer so we can test the Duece for anchoring parallel to wing dams. That is if you can take a day off from eating potato chips and watching boards on the mud. HAHA |

Location: Berlin | I have not fished the Miss since the last MWC Championship and believe me, I miss it. Lots of tournaments this year but I have some weekends open in fall so hopefully we could work something out.
Dean does sell the Deuce at his resort and would probably let you try it out. |

Location: LaCrosse, WI | It's nice to know the hatred towards the Miss is not a hereditary thing. I don’t think you could force Dave to fish it. Of course, I wouldn’t want to fish it either if that tournament in Moline was my only experience with it. |

Location: Berlin | Dave is a potato chip eater so I knew he would not like it. No time for chips when trolling leadcore. |

| Moline, best sheephead bite I've ever seen! No time for Potato Chips! |

| I ran two Drop N Stays off one side of the boat at Moline on wing dams a year and 1/2 ago. That was with two anchors, but I bet a Deuce with a 27 lb Rictor would hold a boat parallel to a wing dam just fine.
Jayman, you weren't eating potato chips at Moline prefish, because you were busy snoring! I anchored up a couple down from you, and you were nowhere to be seen in your boat! I hope you were just snoring! |
