Looking to upgrade my trolling sticks this year and would like to go with the 8' telescoping Mr. Walleye rods. I've got 1 already since I busted one of my other ones late last summer. I need 5 more, anyone have an in for best pricing? Most places I've looked they are $49.99, anyone find them cheaper?

I'd even consider SLIGHTLY used if anyone has some out there. Thanks.

Reeds Sports has free shipping if you get more than 4 rods. They are priced at $49.99.

Another guest who tries to stir the pot with incorrect information. I have Mr. Walleye Rods that I have had for at least 12 years. Different versions of this rod have been around for a long time.

I recall seeing Mr Walleye(Gary Roach) Berkley trolling rods at Fleet many, many moons ago. I think I bought some Diawa glass rods at the time, because they were $20 cheaper. That was at the latest, 1996. Just sold those 2 years ago.

I might be wrong, but I don't think so.

When I called I was told that they were all boxed up for shows that they were going to, and they would see what they could do. They called back the next day and sold them to me for $45 each with no shipping because I ordered 4. No, I'm not an employee.

Sunshine, You have Gary Roach signature series Berkley Lighting Rods. Mr. Walleye rods are not made by Berkley and marketed by Gary himself and they only came out about 3 years ago. Different version of the Berkley rod have been made for a long time but the Mr. Walleye rods are new.

So maybe the guest wasn't stiring the pot with incorrect information but instead but pointing out FACTS!

Just because Gary's name is on them does not meat that they are the same rod. The guy is asking for advice on the new MR. Walleye rods, not the older Berkley rods. People making comments on the old rods in no way reflect on the new rods.

Gary Roach, Mr Walleye. One and the same to me. Marketed by Berkley, or Gary Roach himself. Probably the same rod, or very close to it.

I'd sell that one Roach rod, and go with the Gander Planer Board rods if I was buying today.

I wouldn't call it semantics. Berkley made one of the rods and the other rod is made by a different company, the only similaity is Gary's name on them. If G.Loomis was now making a rod with Gary's name on them it would not be fair to compare them to rods made by Berkley or by Gary himself.

I have 2 "Gary Roach Lightning Rods" by Berkley, and 4 Gary Roach trolling rods, the rods are different, the lightning rods are 7'10" and the other rods are 8', they are both very good rods for pulling boards, and they have a soft enough tip to fight the bigger fish. I bought the Gary Roach trolling rods at the Sportsman in Appleton for $39.95 apiece. MWS80MCT is the I.D. on the rod, they are actually bottom bouncer rods but they work great for pulling boards. I have them paired up with Sealine 27's and the combos work well.
