Subject: ice at sturgeon bay

I went up on friday afternoon to get into some late season walleye action. The first 4 or 5 places I checked were impossible to fish. I went to one of my last resort spots and checked the ice and couldn't convince myself or my friend that it was good enough to fish on. If you know me that would have to be pretty bad. As I was driving away a truck stopped and 2 guys started getting ready to go out. I pulled up and told them that the ice was bad and it isn't a good idea to do that. The younger gentleman informed me that he was a local guide and the ice was fine. He obviously thought he knew more about the ice than me and went out there. The older gentleman fell in right were I told him it was green and bad. They managed to get off with only wet legs. Not sure was they were thinking, but if I'm not out there you shouldn't go either. Pick your spot carefully if you plan on ice fishing anymore this season and please have ropes and life vests on. They will save your life 'cause I'm living proof of that.
