Location: Menasha, WI | From a tech standpoint not too much difference other than the Lakemaster allows a tighter zoom (that's the case on my Lowrance units, may not be the case across the board.
It really depends on which, if any of the smaller lakes you might fish. Both have good, detailed maps of the major fisheries. The difference is in the quantity of the maps for the smaller lakes. I'd suggest looking at the lists of lakes provided on each website to determine what works best for your needs. |

Location: Appleton, WI | Lakemaster is way better for lakes, i,e;Poygan, bago, The Bay ect. Navionics has more accurate contour lines in the rivers, i,e; Wolf, Fox, memonime ect. I own both and switch back and fourth, now some of the others that chime in may tell you differant but this is just my opinion!! |

| I have the '06 model Navionics chip and though I've never had a Lakemaster on the water, I have been able to play with them at work.
The Navionics chip is fantastic. On the HD lakes it is spot on to the foot. My older version has 8,000 contoured lakes, pretty much everything down to about 300 acres in the upper midwest. I don't feel the need to upgrade. The '09 chip has 14,000.
The Lakemaster has 394 contoured maps, with shoreline outlines for the rest. The maps it has are great, but I still think they need to get more bodies of water on it. Plus, with the Navionics chip you're ready for any trip to the Dakotas, Iowa, Michigan, or if you dare, Minnesota... Go on each website; they have lists of every lake on their respective chips.

| I live in South Central Wisconsin and here LM is king. It absolutely blows Navionics away. The only time I don't like it is when I am on some of the more obscure lakes up north...no detail at all on those. If the lakes you fish mostly are on the LM chip, I would go with that. |

Location: Waukesha Wisconsin | Westside: To each their own. To say that LM is king in SC Wisconsin is a bit of a stretch however. I have spent many hours in a boat comparing the two side by side. My final analysis is that they are both good maps and you would be fine with either one. On one lake, the navionics may be a little better but on another the LM will shine. It all depends on how old the data is and how long ago they surveyed the lake. As suggested earlier, a good consumer should look at the lakes that each has listed and go with the one that has the most lakes they fish on. That is, unless you fish the great lakes. Navionics information about the Great Lakes is great, especially if you ever need to visit a new port and would like the vitals before arriving (like phone numbers and utilities). The last thing to consider between the two maps is what kind of unit you are going to use now and in the future. If you use Hummingbird the decision is a no brainer.

Location: Darboy USA | For Green Bay on a Lowrance unit is the Navionics better? I have the new Lakemaster, but seems less detailed than my '04 Navionics, and I'm guessing the new version of Navionics is even better?

| I have noticed with my Lakemaster chip that many of the channel buoys are not on the map. For instance the red and green buoys going out the mouth of the Fox out into the Bay. Is this normal? Also, some of the small humps that showed up on my old unit do not show on the Lakemaster chip while navigating the Bay. I have a Lowrance unit. |

| I also have a Lowrance unit, but have a navionics chip(2009). I too, don't see the markers in the channel. Anyone else have this problem. |
