6 months of waiting and a empty bank account and the NY tuffy has landed...
While Steve was covering the FLW event on Sat., I was at work ready to drive and meet him somewhere in between... In the morning the boss brought over some "extra", not cool... hammered through it in the rain and me and the girlfriend were on the road around 3:30... I was exhausted, and my mood could only be described as "stinkass" forgot my light plug for the trailer and a plate to put on in, so figured I'd be coming home with a good law enforcement following... we stopped along the way at a casino and in a few minutes won 35$ and some free food and drink and we were heading west... got on the phone with Steve and he was heading east on I-90... we were heading west on I-90... Interesting point here, me and the tuffy were now travelling at a closing speed of 150 mph! (I don't know how fast steve was going, I do know how fast I was going in the harley!...) we finally got together around Erie Pa at 10:00 pm... My new boat! looked great! we were both impressed... Steves bad pictures on the net didn't do it justice! ha ha! exchanged stuff and Steve took off... would have liked to talk to him more but it was late and he had to get back to Packer land... Maybe Bear land, he had Illl. plates...
So we hooked it up to the harley with no lights... I thought I may have an extra plug in my tool box... yup, this one had about 4 ft of cobbed together wires from previous wiring disasters, plugged it in, bam! lights! very cool... we got coffee at the store and back to NY... our goal was Batavia NY with some cheap rooms and a casino nearby... got there around 12;30 and hit the little casino with tuffy in tow... (it was the only tuffy in the parking lot by the way...) had 1 beer and won some money... we hit the sack a little after 2am... nice little 21 hour day for us! up in the morning more coffee and some gas and we pulled into the driveway around 11:45...
she put a pillow on the couch and said take a nap... nope, got some rigging to do... got out the new Trolling motor and started to put that together... uh... lot can be said for buying a bought from a dealer already rigged... the TM almost ended up in the brown water that was last years pool... At 4:30, trolling motor and front sonar were mostly hooked up but I was outa gas... pulled out the seats and grabbed some beer and sat on the floor in the new boat! (this should be done by all new boat owners) lotta brain time thinking of the stuff that had to be done... HDS on the dash, registration insurance etc... looked around at the way tuffy does things... modular and simple... it makes great sense...
threw the cover on it and I was in bed by 7:30... long work week ahead...
My opinions... I'll be honest, I'll give you good and bad...
Trailer is real nice! more than enough for this boat, with bright led lighting... seats are the best I've seen, look great too... gelcoat is done really well, flat surfaces are mirror flat and the curves are right on! great mold guys there! the color was not my choice but I like it! dark blue with the blue and silver flake... The pics didn't show this well... If you ever try this color again, do the whole boat and skip the white, then leave out the silver flake, would be a sharp looker!
console is really nice and the strongest I've had... wiring is simple and well thought out... I really like all the access hatches... the switchs are nice too... even with the dying seagull horn! Storage is real nice... lots of space in the boat... I am really looking forward to getting this on the water and doing some fishing!
I'm gonna throw some negatives at ya, just to keep things honest, It's the way I am... I worked in the marine industry for 10 years and travelled to boat factorys from coast to coast from 12 ft whalers to 100+ ft yachts... things in the boating world never change... wiring... do you really have to drop 40+ grand on a boat and see a bunch of wires under the console? this tuffy has the best looking wiring I've seen in a boat, but man, if you can remove a windshield in a snap, how about the same deal under the console? I'm not throwing tuffy under the bus... I've had a champion, stratos javelin... all the same... the tuffy wiring is the best so far...
This boat has been around a while... it was at your get together last summer... battery had some gunk on it, few scratches here and there... to be expected for a boat that has got some miles on it... before it even hit the water... but to be honest, it was a great price for a great boat....
had a few bonuses too... bought a battery for it but it came with one... also a keel guard... cool... extra oil tank, not sure what to do with that...few quarts of oil too... (how do you put oil way back in there anyway?)
so this week I'll get the sonar on, hope to be on the water by saturday after work and sunday... pics will follow, including a hot rigs pic like moreyes... (please post how to put pics on here... haven't figured that out yet...)
I want to thank everbody here on this board... I took a big chance by buying a boat here... all you here sold it!
the stinkass is gone!

Congrats! You finally have her home! Enjoy.

Not sure what you mean with wiring exposed. I've not noticed that. Mine was/is nicely tucked up under the dash, and tie wrapped. As for getting oil in it, everyone I've seen has remote fill on the portside gunnel. Not sure who rigged the boat, but that should have been done. Perhaps they freed up some wiring under the console, and overlooked tidying up?

no big deal, I've always thought stuff should be behind a cover under there, keep feet, bugs, fishing line etc. under there... the tuffy wiring under there is the best I've seen in 6 boats... no oil fill on the port side I've found yet, but I do have a G model... but I do have an extra oil res! cool... I had a long day of high winds today, my mind was on the new boat in the driveway... the cover is real nice too... She came home early and covered it up better than i had it... snug as a bug...
I'll be sending all pics to moreyes so he can post them...
next few days I gotta get that hds installed...
can't wait to get out fishing...

Whatever you do iceman, make sure you take the time to properly break that Optimax in. I know when everyone gets a new boat they get throttle happy and want to puncher down but the first two hours at least you want to follow the break in procedure to a tee! Just my suggestion.

Finally got out Saturday after work... WOW! the 1760 shot up on plane instantly with the 150 optimax... we putted around quite a bit break in time... snuck up to 37 mph... lot left... very resonsive to trim... great ride, very nice seats are very nice... the gas shock ones are very impressive... trailer rides better than any trailer I've had... loaded extremely easy!
the Maxxum 80 pro with the lift assist is real easy to take up and down... the HDS-8 is a nice sonar but too complicated right now for riding around in a new boat... many many features... ME and Chris fished for 2 days and she loves it too...
Couple things I gotta get used to, drifts in the wind different than a bass boat... sideways instead of straight...
I got a guy coming wed from canada to buy Boatzilla off to another country and good by! then I'll be knee deep in Beer! yahoo! pics will follow after that...
moreyes, congrats on the 1000 posts, I'm coming after you though, check your mirrors...
