The Illinois Walleye Trail conducted its Third Tournament of the 2009 season in Spring Valley Illinois.

The teams found blue bird skies and 70 degree temps on Saturday prefishing but by Tournament Day the weather went sour with rain all day. That never bothered the Saugers as they were already all wet. The team of Dave Klezyk and Dave Zurawski won the tournament with a six fish limit weighing 12.80 earning them $2100.00. They also had the big fish of the tournament, 3.68 pounds worth an additional $390.00. The team fished the St Bede flats all day. They started out trolling with three ways and crank baits. Dave Klezyk said they caught their first keeper fish early, and then had a run of short fish. They decided to try a jig and minnow and found no success. Based on this they went back to three ways and cranks. Dave said the key was increased speed and that triggered the bigger fish. Placing second was the team of Jeremy Piacinte from Tiskilwa, IL and Bryan Read, Tiskilwa, Il with a six fish limit weighing 9.83 pounds earning them $ 1225.00. Third place honors went to the team of Adam Sandor, Tonica, IL and Steve Sandor, Ottawa, IL with 9.29 pounds earning them $825.00 plus they received he EZee Step bonus award of $100.

The team of Max Actis and Mike Stuckert won the Lund Owners contingency Prize of $500.00 for their 6th place finish as the first Lund boat owner in the money. Compliments of Hennepin Marine, the team of Rick Rundle and Dave Puetz won a $100.00 Certificate for the first Lund owner out of the money.

Special thanks to the LaSalle Fish Hatchery for collecting the fish caught Saturday and Sunday. The fishermen on Sunday brought 116 fish to the scales, weighing 166 pounds. Out of this there were 38 females that had not yet spawned, and will be taken to the hatchery and milked.

The Illinois Walleye Trail is a qualifying circuit for the Cabels's National Championship and also for AIM Championship.
