| I was hoping some of the more knowledgable WF guys could help me out. I looking for some reference on running 1/2 oz. inline weights and their dive curves?
I know 1oz and 2oz and 3oz are in the new edition of Precision trolling, but I was hoping to use some of the 1/2 oz weights in the 10' to 12' depths. Any guide lines to follow?

| There's just too many variables (speed, line, spinner size/type) to be accurate.
Best is just to let one out at the speed you want to go, until it hits bottom, then you know the max you can let out and work from there. |

| My mission was to get a feel for targeting fish high in the water column. Using the 1/2 oz because it would let me let out a little more line from the board and still hopefully stay in the top 5' to 6' of water for suspended fish. I know I can let line out till weight hits bottom and work up from there, I just was wondering if you guys had a rule of thumb you like to follow.

@ 1.3 MPH
2oz 2' out for 1' down example 20' back = 10' down
1oz 3' out for 1' down 30' back = 10' down
1/2oz 4' out for 1' down 40' back = 10' down
3/8oz 5' out for 1' down 50' back = 10' down
1/4oz 6' out for 1' down 60' back = 10' down
1/8oz 8' out for 1' down 80' back = 10' down |

Location: Menasha, WI | kregs, If you want to run your harnesses in the top 5'-6' of the water column, you don't really need any weights. If you're using solid 5mm beads, the weight of the harness is enough to keep the presentation in that zone unless you get the speeds up -- a small split-shot will do if you're going a little faster.

Location: Badgerland | 1.0 - 1.2 mph, 9-10 feet out = 1 foot down, no weight, I usually only add a split shot in less than 10 fow if I want to run a line in the lower 50% of the water column, but usually if you need to go that deep to get a lazy walleye, i'll swich to cranks for a reaction bite.

Location: Lincoln Park, Mi | 40' to get 10 down with the 1/2oz sounds right on. I was running a 3/4oz yesterday 30' back off a board and was ticking the bottom in 10FOW. |
