For me, it comes down to balance more than line capacity. An old test that I do Put the reel on the rod you plan on using. (if you are doing this in the store, find a rod like the one you have back home). Put one finger on the reel seat in front of the attached reel. Does the rod stay horizontal to the floor? Where is the pivot point that allows the rod to stay balanced (horizontal to the floor) ? If the rod tip swings up the reel may be too heavy for the rod. If the rod tip swings down, you may be able to go to a bigger reel. It comes down to a matter of personal choice but I like a well balanced rod/reel combo.
