Location: Stevens Point, WI | Four pounds separates first place from tenth place, and on these waters, four pounds is one good fish away from being atop the leader board. Tom Brunz of Madison Lake, Minn. is proof of that, boating the heaviest weight on day two with his five fish limit that tipped the scales at 15 pounds, 8 ounces took him from 50th place to ninth place in one day.
Another pro on the move up is a local guide and one very familiar with being atop the leaderboard during Winnebago tournaments is Jimmy Hughes. Hughes had his "game face" on this morning during his morning interview with WalleyeFIRST but he did say he's back and forth between jigging and trolling on the upper lakes of the system.
Hughes also noted that his experience on this water has him a bit nervous and knows that the Winnebago bug may catch up to him but he's going to try and squeeze out another two days.
Nuechterlein said his bite was tough yesterday, not boating a fish till after noon, he's going to be a bit conservative today trolling his long pass.
Weather is forecasted to be a high of 62 and winds 10-20 mph out of the NW.
