| looking for a little info on night fishing for walleyes...
gonna get out once a week from here on out... casting, no trolling. got 2 lakes in mind, nice weed edges... here are my lure choices...
1. big husky jerk / super rogue
2. rattling bait...
3. crankbait...
should I go with a rattling bait or something quieter?
lure color at night make a difference?
how about lights... black light? I think my HDS 8 could light up the whole lake!
any other tips you got would be great... first cold snap coming through here in the northeast and I'm gonna get out as much as I can...
thanks for any help... |

Big Shad Raps work GREAT. If you find the fish concentrated consider lighted slip bobbers Black is the best color to start with at night. I also like purple. Rattling baits work well. Make noise with your lures not with your boat.

Location: Orland Park, IL | I like the stick baits. Like a F13 or 15 in purple/black. I think the key there is the side to side "roll" vs the hardcore shake like a shad rap. What about a big plastic tail on lighter jig head? |

Location: Lake Erie | Clown and orange belly baits work very very well at night (fish see up), slow rolling baits like you mentioned, Rogues, Husky's, F-18's (if big fish are around) J-13's, some nights floaters work some night suspending baits, twitch and pause retrieves and SLOW, when you think you can't go any slower...try slower, it's early yet to get real slow but as winter draws you want that bait crawling. |

| boat is back from the shop next week then I can get this deal going... Dug out a couple of old Risto raps, like a blown up shad rap... also gonna take komos advise and try a lizard on a light jighead... really looking forward to getting out there... with work 6 days a week this is a good option... |
