| Been a Musky fisherman for quite a while and want to expand my horizons to other species. Thinking about using leadcore for trolling.
I'm wondering which reel to use for my fishing? I have some Daiwa Sealine SG47s (linecounters) that I've used for trolling for Muskies with braid. I wonder how these will work out for trolling leadcore?
Other reel suggsetions? |

Location: LaCrosse, WI | They would be absolutely fine. You should be able to get close to 10 colors on a 47. I run segmented leadcore for Walleyes rarely ever running more than 5 colors, so I get away with using 27's. I would recommend sticking with Line counters if possible.
The biggest key to leadcore is usually the rod. You want a strong rod with a very soft tip. There's no stretch in leadcore, so the rod will need to be pretty forgiving. |

| Perfect, Scheels makes a nice trolling rod, the 10'6" models give you a nice spread |

| I run a couple old Accudepth 47's for my lead reels. I can get a reel full of 27#, and a 25' leader. I'll run Fireline crystal in the rivers or zebra infested waters, which is pretty much everywhere I fish.
Best rod, in IMO, is a longer Ugly Stick. Great rods for pulling lead. Soft tip, and plenty of strength. Plus they are bulletproof. Straight out from the boat, and I'll run Fireline on the inside, rods being 6' Gander rods.

| I use a couple of older Penn 209s; they have a ton of line capacity. Since the line is metered anyway, I don't use a linecounter.

Location: Colgate, WI | I run the Sea Line 47's. I run 2, 3 and 5 colors. The only 10 color I use is for salmon. I run the smaller 18# for walleye and use the 27# for salmon only. |
