I've been wanting to add a pitol grip casting rod to the line up for years now and with a few breakages this fall it was time. asked some questions and then one showed up at my house no charge! (nice guy!!) its 5-6 with a med action. I was looking mainly for something to throw jerkbaits and small crankbaits. had it in the house mostly to torment the cats but yesterday with a heat wave of near 30 degrees got down to the river for some casting. What a dream for casting! then went and hit a wall for some spoon jigging, worked real well.
I will be using this alot this year. the 5-6 size is easy to use and a doesn't take up alot of room.

Anybody still use these old school rods for their fishing?

I use a similar rod for pulling flies. One right-hand, and one left-hand baitcaster reels with flippin' switches is a hot set up!

Same here, baitcaster with flippin switches for three way rigging. I found some decent reels at the Madison Fishing Expo a couple years ago for like $30. Awesome price with flipping switches. These are key when fishing steep breaks that require me to quickly drop the bait 10'.
