Location: Elgin, Illinois | When this was first raised as a threat, the Pro-Obama-ites liken those of us who were concerned to "Chicken Little". It seems those of us who are frightened of this administration are in some impressive company. I hate to drag politics into a fishing forum, but all of "you" (those who think that this administration is not your sworn enemy) better come to your senses and begin to realize you have been had. You voted for change and you are going to get it... change in the way you won 't like.
Please, voice your opposition to this madness. If you want to be able to hunt and fish into the future as you have in the past, get educated and then take action. Write your Representatives and Senators, as suggested in the article.
And, if you lose your cherished hobby to these "kooks and crazies" I hope you will abandon this administration and vote for change, again. |

Location: Oshkosh, Wisconsin | Wow. That was a real piece of investigative reporting there. Didn't know ESPN was branching out into the supermarket tabloids, but that is CLEARLY where that article belongs.
Hey, I got this bridge in NY I want to sell... it leads to my duck hunting swamp in Arizona... Geesh... |

| Let me get this straight...Shimano was in Washington at the table and reported the same attitude from the Administration, NOAA puts a ban on red snapper fishing and others....no problem here? Serious discussions about Merc going to 6 limit and mortality but this is nothing to worry about. |

It's hard for most folks to get their arms around this one. Some feel it's Chicken Little howling, some feel it's really a bad deal but have no idea what to do about it, and others could care less. |

| Kind of hard to react to an article full of speculation and innuendo. Show the facts on how this will impact us and we'll load both barrels. |

| How much for the bridge? |
|

|
| Simple way to react...
Write your congressman and senators and ask that they support, with legislation, that would protect the economic and recreational interests ofd those involved in "sport fishing". Refernce the Task Force in your letter.
If the industry "insiders" are concerned, it would be wise for us to be pro-active. Putting political "preferences" aside, what can it hurt to remind those who represent us in Washington, that we want them to guard our hobby for the future.
The writer is not some "goof ball" he has been following conservation issues and writing about them for twenty years. (see note at the end of the article) |

| And, the same info appears in the Christian Science Monitor....

What would such legislation look like? Would it be something that helps to establish sensible exploitation rates for our fisheries? Protects our waters from pollution? Ensure that our waterways remain open and available to those that need them for their living as well those of us that enjoy them for the recreational value they provide? Well then by all means, call you local senator and ask for him/her to support regulation like this... |

| The whole industry is losing its will to live. Everyone should stop looking at their own shoes and start paying closer attention to everyone else’s. There is a point in time where all true commitment to the sport started falling apart and opened the gates for things like this to happen. |

| I'm still interested in that bridge, I understand waterfowl hunting is fantastic in the desert. |
