Location: Jackson, MO | Guys,
I just bought a 2008 Tracker Tundra, w/ a 150 opti on it. I would like to know what you think would be the minimum hp I could get away with in a kicker motor. I'm assuming that I would want a four stroke so I don't have to carry another gas tank with mixed fuel. I don't troll much, but with the new rig would like to start more! I don't have the boat in my possession, however I would like to get an idea as to what I need to set this boat up to troll right! |

| There are two kinds of kickers.... The Mercury Pro Kicker and everything else. I'd suggest you get the 9.9, sure you could get a 6 or an 8, but the 9.9 is rock solid, it would easily transfer to your next boat, resale is good, everyone wants one, you could probably take it off and throw it on a 14' duck boat or whatever too. Everyone has parts for them, and on and on. The T8 is a very good second choice. |

Location: Lake Erie | Since you have a Merc already go with the 9.9 I have had one for almost 3 season with a billion hours of trollling and no issues yet, trolls at .6 on flat water. I fish till ice up Ohio and it's not even really cold blooded, one or two pushes of the start button let it warm up for a minute and I'm off and trolling. Great motor, the 4 blade offers great low end thrust and will keep your boat pointed in the right direction even without a bow mount. T-8 would be a good second choice offers the same but why wouldn't you want to match motors. You can't go wrong |
