Had a rather interesting experience yesterday,

I was sitting on my second story porch watching the storms approach the east shore of Butte des Morts where I just moved into my new house, East wind with the storms fast approaching from the West.  The water was fairly calm with little or no wave action.  Suddenly from about 1/4 mile from the shore, I noticed this really bizarre white ball of water on the surface and a moment later that ball was swirling on my shore packing a 60-70 mph wind.  After retreating to the inside window, I witnessed my very large tree become uprooted and crash down, falling to the South.  My next thought was about my boat on the boat lift and how the heck was it going to stay put in these intense winds, I thought for sure my boat was going to end up in my living room.  The cover tore off the boat and wrapped its self around a dock pole... and then the wind died down to a gusty 35-40 MPH for the next 5 minutes... and I went to change my underpants.  Not sure what I just experienced, but if that's anything close to a tornado, I want to build my next house underground.

As a side note, I had Alpine Insulation install 6 inches of spray foam on my house on their recommendation (Corbond) which they use in the Gulf states to protect houses from Hurricane damage, my wife who was doing laundry had no idea what was happening outside and could not hear anything from the outside.  Corbon Insulation makes your house solid as a rock and is unbelievable.

Glad that there was minimal damage. Also happy to hear that you finally cut through all the red tape and got to build your house!

Sounds like a water spout. Did you get it on video? Glad everyone is safe and well.
We got 4.89" according to neighbors water gauge and my backyard was flooded up to me deck. 12 years at this house and i never had a puddle in the back yard , real scary just thinking what could have happen if there was 1 or 2 more storms in that train of storms.

Right now the water is up 24 inches on Big Butte.  I did see a couple of guys from the FLW catching Walleyes 50 yards off my dock.  They must have had a pattern going because they were making 200 yard passes and turning around for about 3 hours.  I did very well in front of my house the last couple of days, the Northers have moved in for their summer feast.
