That sux, even if you don't do well in a tourney fine. The walk away should always be have fun and at least catch some fish. A day like that is just the pits.

Field is 62. I heard Pete Harsh quit the tour because of the teams. Hmmm. I guess that wasn't exactly correct, was it? Glad to see Pete still fishing tourneys.

Nice to see Steve Lotz with the leaders. Nice man, great jig angler. Bet he spent more than a bit of time in the river.

11+ pounds is a huge weight, considering. Worse thing that could happen was the torrential downpour Wednesday night. I thought of the 2005 Merc Nats when we got all that rain on Friday!

Hope the bite heats up today. Good luck to all, because you are all still in it!

ya i was excited to see pete fishing again. i can understand how things just arent the same on tour as the old days. maybe not as fun . i love following the man on tour and wish someday i could get in his boat for a day and just watch him rig... hope he comes on strong on day two. i think its going to be all over boys. Bret Wilkens is too good on a a crappy bite .. all will bring in more fish today but with the wind in his favor he will not be caught because he will have triple the bites today than yesterday and others will still be struggling .. he has too many spots and conditions are getting better and better... although anyone can bring in a big load if they can keep the weeds off the crank baits. never mind what some of the big names and guys like jimmy heues can put togather if they get there bites... this thin is not over but i think wilkens will have 13-16 lbs a day for the next two days so someone will need a big big load to catch up.

About a month ago, I drove from the eastshore of Bago to MilleLacs to fish with Pete just for that reason. We had breakfast with him due to some bad weather and I learned enough to justify the trip before we even fished. We fished Friday afternoon and he decided to stay and fish with us on Saturday because of the short-day. We had a great time, caught lots of fish and learned alot from one of the nicest guys I ever meet. If you get a chance, get into the boat with him. I had to pinch myself as I backed his rig into the water!!

wow guess i was WRONG AGAIN! the bite got harder! even with adjustments by the best in the buisness the boys couldnt put anything consistant togather... it will be interesting in the morning. was a 20lb bag a fluke or does the leader have a program? will the wind back down a bit to clear the water up enough? im still sticken with Wilkens now that Pete H is out!
