Tonight (August 24) at 6:00 the Oshkosh City Council is going to vote on an ordinace to make the area between Spellman's marine through Rainbow Park on the Fox River permanantly slow no wake. If you're reading this, you're probably aware that right now the slow no wake currently only applies to weekends and holidays.

Please come out and help be the voice of the people who use this waterway.

I wish they would vote on charging the pleasure boaters a fee everytime they have to open the bridges.

I can understand if they wanted this temporarily due to high water. What I don't understand is how municipalities can regulate a FEDERAL waterway.

Apparently if the town of wolf river can get away with it everyone on the system can. If you don't like your boat getting tossed around on the dock than put it on the trailer like the rest of us do or tie it down better.

I agree that they should charge the boats to open the bridges - those are the ones capable of creating the tidal waves. I also wish everyone used a bit more common sense. That long no wake got created out into the mouth of the river in oshkosh because lots of people (fishing boats included) felt they needed to be going 55 past row boats fishing in the mouth.
