Location: Waukesha Wisconsin | Info from another sight via The Fishing Fanatics radio show Robert Cartlidge, the President of The Bass Federation INC. (TBF INC.), stated on The Fishing Fanatics radio show tonight that TBF is going to start a walleye version of TBF in the very near future.
He said the announcement will be coming sooner than later.
Make of it what you will, but this could the type of super affordable entry point into tournament fishing the sport needs.
Robert stated that for around $200 annually TBF club anglers can fish events that can potentially qualify them to fish the TBF National Championship possibly qualify for the BFL All American and then possibly qualify for the Forrest Wood Cup. The TBF also has a program that their National Champ gets an offer to use a Chevy Truck and Ranger boat for one full season on the FLW Tour including entry fees and travel expenses covered for the season.
This could be big BUT this is not set in stone of course until there is a formal announcement. He said an announcement may not come until next year. |

Location: LaCrosse, WI | I really do feel that we need some kind of grassroots organization like this. At minimum it would be an affordable entry point. May not be the absolute answer to all the issues, but I applaud somebody for potentially giving us a starting point. |

Location: Rhinelander | I do as well, but this is a bit ethereal. A more direct route is needed as well. I'd love to see the FLW reinstate the League, and see participation increase. I believe a good part of the difficulties that did occur in what was a reasonably successful venture was caused by spreading out the events into areas that would have taken a few more years to develop a following.
I'd love to see the League follow about the same path as the Tour for a couple years, keeping to the heartland of competitive walleye angling where the demographics seem to supply the needed numbers. Maybe Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota?. |
