| Hello,
Over the past couple seasons I have started experimenting with trolling spoons for walleye. However I have not had much luck with this technique. I was hoping some of you guys who have experience with this tactic would be able to help me out a bit. I was mostly wondering what size and style spoons you guys use, what types of speeds you try to target, and what types of "set-up" you use to get the spoon down to the fish.

Location: LaCrosse, WI | We fished a championship on Erie one time where we caught a lot of fish trolling spoons. We used the smaller Michigan Stinger spoons behind small dipseys and jet divers. You typically have to troll spoons fairly fast to make them flash properly. We trolled around 2.5 to 3 mph most of the time.
I like to use the same spoons as atractors on harnesses from time to time as well. |

Location: WI | We use two set-ups for spoons. 1.) Put the spoon behind a jet diver. 2.) Use a three-way, deep diving crank on the one end, spoon on the other. |

Location: Lincoln Park, Mi | Rarely used, but very effective for walleye near bottom. Spoons off bouncers. One of my best Erie techniques. I run them on a 5-6' mono leads with swivels on each end. Deadly going over humps or small reefs out on the lake. Works great also on the Detroit River, bouncing 4oz bouncers along the drop-offs to the shipping channels. |

| Has anyone ever tried the Viper Spoon by Thundermist Lures? |

| Very popular on Lake Erie. We troll them behind inline weights, jet Divers, and Dipsys. We usually target 1.5-2 mph. The Michigan Stingers are horrible. If you catch more than two fish on one without it losing it's paint, consider yourself lucky. Silver Streak makes a very durable spoon. More and more charter captains on Lake Erie are switching to them. |
