I remembered Gary mentioning something about some new Worm designs he was working on when he had his Fish Chat with us on my fishing board last year. I've seen you use, promote and catch lots of walleyes on your Next Bite show and other fishing videos using Gulp Minnows of all sizes, even the Gulp leeches I think. Yet have never seen you use or even mention Gulp Nightcrawlers as a replacement for real ones when trolling. I personally use them with pretty good success on the bay. Have you ever used them during tournaments and what are your thoughts on using them.
Answer: For the most part I've always preferred real crawlers because they have a much better tail action. I have used Gulp crawlers with great success when there are a lot of fish and particularly when the perch, white-bass, etc are constantly picking my crawlers off. That being said, a few of us have been prototyping some new Gulp crawlers with good success. They are just not quite ready yet and aren't available to the public.
New Question:
I seen an In-fisherman show yesterday where they were using the new Powerbait Thumper Worm. It's tail action was unbelievable and it seemed to be the answer to your own complaint about the Gulp Worms Lac of tail action. Was this one of the prototypes you were working on? I just wrote berkley asking if they will ever come out with some good walleye colors for the thumper, like the Natural Nightcrawler I have so much luck using on the Saginaw Bay. Right now these seem to be tailored made in both (length and darker colors) for bass fishermen. Whats your new thoughts on this new design and do you have any pull with berkley to get some colors and lengths made for walleyes?

Good one Thumper.  It truely is amazing to me though, just how many people really think everytime you mention a products name, (especially if you Pro Staff for them) that that company sends you royalty check in the mail. If only that were true.

I am a devoted user of your products. I use them often in my
guiding/chartering business on Saginaw Bay and local rivers. I use your 6"
Nightcrawlers most on the bay when trolling harnesses. I just seen a fishing
show on TV where they were using your new Thump Worms. I liked the action of
the tails and was going to order some to try this summer on the bay. But I'm
not in love with the colors you have for them. The natural Nightcrawler has
always been my best color for walleyes and wonder if you plan on making the

Thank you for contacting Berkley regarding our Thump Worms. We are glad you find them to be an exciting new bait, but I am sorry to say that as of now there are no plans to release it in "Natural" color. I have taken your feedback about the need for Thump Worms in this color and have input it in our Consumer Feedback Tool. This tool is used to allow our product development team to directly see consumer feedback in order to shape and alter future product lines.
I hope that in the meantime you will still find our Nightcrawlers and current Thump Worm offerings suitable for your fishing needs.

| I would say grab a few bags of the colors they got and give it a whirl. Green pumkin never hurt. junebug, plum, black...
FYI these paddle tail worms are big in Fla for bass. Gambler, charlies worms, etc, all have these. remember a tourney on Okeechobee 12 years ago... jan. one tackle shop had a FRIDGE box full of gambler paddletails! light sinker, throw it out reel it in... great action when you get the speed right.

Location: Essexville, MI./Saginaw Bay. | Ya. I ordered 4 bags of the Pumpkinseed and one bag of the pearl/silver. Gonna make up a few new 2 hook harnesses to specifically fit their longer 7" length as well. Will also downsize the my usual harness blade size to allow a tad faster trolling speeds, to allow these tails to really thump hard. Watching these things work really gave me walleye goose bumps.
