Location: Freedom, WI | It was a tough opening weekend for our group of 11 shacks! Nobody saw a Sturgeon, just lots of Shiners and the occasional Shad. The highlight of the weekend stare down was watching a plump Walleye around 25" slowly swim through the hole about 8' down in 18fow! I am back at work and hope to get back out this weekend if the season continues which I think will be the case. Good luck and throw straight! I posted a short video on cutting in as well as some pics of the process on my blog at http://midwestfisherman.blogspot.com/

I passed a smaller legal fish on saturday.
That's code for "I had the head-bobs, and saw it too late to chuck at it"
Wow, great fish, Jayman. Guess my call was lucky again this year! |

| Actually I had plenty of time to throw on the smaller one, it was moving slow along the bottom from under my feet and straight away slightly on the left. Not a grandma shot, but a 20# class fish. "Not on opening day" is what I told myself.
video of the fish.

Location: Menasha, WI | In case you haven't heard, travel conditions have gone down hill, FAST. At least 10 trucks through so far today with one confirmed fatality. The plowed roads are the worst areas, stay away from those areas but a better idea might be to stay off the lake until conditions improve and the clubs can re-assess.

| That video was cool Jayman. I'm heading out tomorrow with the sled. Still got plenty of ice by me but I don't want to hit an unmarked hole. We have to get out fishing this year. I want to here more about that monster. Take care. |
