Location: Rhinelander | The weather is rough to the south but so far, Osh Kosh hasn't seen any storms or rain. Winds are E/NE for the time being, running about 8 MPH. Here's the rest of the day's weather for Winnebago:
Variable clouds with showers and scattered thunderstorms. High near 75F. Winds E at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 60%.
James Keller of the JJ Keller Fishing Team said his prefish was similar to the Merc Nationals in the main lake; tough. He said he had little luck on the mud, and had to weed through multiple rough fish to net a walleye anywhere they fished.
Matt Jacobson said he was going to try to get a limit in the well and then head for the mud. Several other teams said they'd stick to the shallow jig or trolling bite all day.
235 teams are fishing the Otter Street Tournament this year.
General consensus is that the majority of the big fish are still up the system and not in Winnebago yet, so estimated winning weights were all in the mid to upper 20# range.

The weigh in will begin at 3 PM, so expect a report, video, and images sometime near 6 PM.

Rose and Rose unofficially lead the 2011 Otter Street Tournament after 235 boats weighed in on day one. The bite remains good on Bago, but the average weight is still dominated by the strong year of 17 to 18" immature females, so the average weight remained in the middle 8 pound class.
A few more big fish were caught than on day one of the Merc Nationals up to 7 pound class. One big fish and a few of the 17's and a top ten is a lock early in the event.
The Otter Street setup on stage is radically different than the other events OFM covers; the teams are weighed very quickly with no interviews at all, and for the most part, the anglers sort of wander the stage when they come up to be weighed. As a result, the images and video is a little different for this event. The weigh in went VERY smoothly in front of a respectable crowd, this club knows how to get it done efficiently and quickly.
The weather looks wet for tomorrow; if the forecast holds it will be rain suits and waterproof camera action in the morning! The rough weather looks to be mid morning and after 2 PM.
