I am not sure what to even say to this. It takes a lot to shock me but I will say this is something else. I have only met one other person in my life of this caliber.

| I am appalled by this kind of behavior, Scott thinks he's an ambassor of the sport by writing about it but in reality he's only created more animoisity among fellow fisherpeople.
I strongly suggest you make your voice known if you disagree with Scott's boat launch idiots and on the water idiots.

| Its crazy that he talks about how fast he is and he cranks his boat on the trailer. His 6 minutes could be 3. I guess it takes all kinds! |

Looking at the site, there's only a single sponsor, the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters. Not really a surprise that a douche like that can't get anyone to advertise.

Location: Oshkosh, WI | This really helps me to appreciate the people who are patient and polite at boat landings. I always make it a point to talk to people and tell them not to worry about it if they are taking a little time. If I am by myself, I tend to thank people who are waiting for me to get out of the way. People get revved up at launches. It helps everyone if you just talk a little. |

Location: Essexville, MI./Saginaw Bay. | This particular episode was obvioulsy staged for the camera to drive home his point. And I've bitten my lip for a few days wanting badly to post on this subject, knowing what I want to say might bring the fires of hell. And I'm positive that the first few comments about the guy and his type "A" personality in the post, kept a few people from posting their real feeling about the actual subject.
Like it or not, we all know what should be done at the ramp before launching and when retrieving your boats from the water. We all know common curtisy should be used, but will not teach the guy loading his boat with his fishing gear (AFTER HE LAUNCES) anything. Nor the guy who cannot back his rig up straight. And of course, many of these things become more contingent apon and urgent, depending on just how busy any particualr ramp is. So even though I agree that this guys attitude and personality are somewhat offensive and needs adjusting, he is in this case and IMV the messenger taking the heat.
I was accused once by a gentelman of being a (Charter Captain snob) on a prominet fishing board, because I would not stop and tallk to this guy, who had stopped at the top of the ramp with his car and asked out his car window as I passed how I did. I simply said we did good and quickly walked to my truck and trailer, as there were 4 to 6 boats idleing in the river waiting for that ramp. The guy asking me how I did, did not have a clue why I did what I did. He assumed it was because I thought I was better then him and a snob. Not that I was trying to get the hell out of everybodys way as quickly as I could. He then mentions after I answered his post about the why, that I had the gual to talk to everybody it seemed once I was out of the water and out of the way at the top of the parking lot. Well.........DUH.

Location: Berlin | I understand Dan and an educational video about proper launch ettiquette (sorry Viking sp?) is great. This however was not that video. Humiliating people on camera then posting it on the internet is not cool. Doing that in front of a young person is taking it to another level.
I will not stoop to his level as I do not want this thread to get deleted. Aren't we supposed to be ambassadors for the sport?? Do you think this video inspired rookies to get better at launching their watercraft?? I think it made them not want to launch it ever again.
Dispicable is what this video is. This latest one was a poor attempt at humor. He is trying to soften the blow of the first video. Instead he should have manned up and posted an apology. |

| I agree 100% Rich, this guy is just an idiot. There is nothing funny about what he did. He is a disgrace to the sport. Everyone out there is not a "professional" and most get out when they can. These people are probably done for the year because they don't want to deal with people like that. His attempt at being funny in the latest one - even dumber. You owe every fisherman and fisherwoman an apology because you have set a crappy example of what a true sportsman is really like. Do not make excuses for him. |

Location: Essexville, MI./Saginaw Bay. | So the hell starts. I'm not making excuses for anyone. I did get the distinct impression from a few responders that even a civil video about ramp etiquette would have met with the same disdain. I'm sure you know I'm not defending his mannerisms or bad examples to the kids for labeling people he has never met, especially in a publicized video. Yet, have found myself thinking some of those same things when stuck behind these (lets say) uninformed people at the ramp. So my intention was not to back or support his play, but to state we've all thought those same things, except with the kooth and common sense to keep those thoughts to ourselves that's all.

Absolutely Rich. You don't teach anybody anything by berating, insulting or purposely embarrassing them. Nor do you do them any favors by ignoring or excusing their mistakes. But his is not the way to teach anything. |

Location: Manawa Wiscowsin | We have all become frustrated at a launch waiting for someone inept to launch or retrieve their boat. I have offered many times to help out but have been told to "go to ####" many more times than the help was accepted so I understand his frustration. However this video with the name calling isn't helpful when trying to relate what most of us agree is proper launch etiquette.
My number one peeve at boat launches is the way people that have no right to do so park in spaces reserved for the handicapped or elderly. As an old timer who has had to walk a long way to park (at times with a cane) I hate seeing some youngster using the elderly or handicap spaces. The last time I saw this happen I didn't ask the person to use another space I called the police and let them know the driver of ______ was obviously not suffering from a handicap but hung a handicap card from his rear view mirror when he parked. The dispatcher said that as long as the handicap card was in place they could do nothing about it. Oh well, take a deep breath and count to ten. I hope he hits a rock. |

If you'd put down the ho-hos and get your thumb out of your hinder, you could use spell check and save us all a lot of time having to wait while you figure out how to spell ettiquette or etiquette or etiquete, or whatever.

Alot of people just dont know and are new to boating. I usally try to help someone out if there haveing troubles. You usally feel better doing it and can get out faster rather than sitting there stewing. |

Are you trying to make me cry...ok, I am fat...I get it. I am working on it but life is depressing and the only thing that gives me any sort of happiness is eating ho ho's while my thumb is feeling the comfort of my bum. Don't take that away from me. I will look into this new "spell check" thingy you mentioned. Good day sir. |

| Finally watched it. I live 2 miles from county boat landing where he filmed that. First off my wife has a way better boat then you have. Second of all she drove semi down in the rail yards of Chicago for 3 years and she will back up the boat and trailer the full length of county boat landing parking lot. She has to do that when people with no common sense such as yourself pull there boat out 15 feet and stop instead of driving to the end like most people do. Feel sorry for your kid having to look up to someone like you. |

Location: Berlin | The lost interview:
CWS: Leroy, how long on average does it take you to launch your boat?
Butler: 12 minutes on average I would say. I am still getting the hang of it. It is just nice to get out and enjoy the outdoors.
CWS: 12 minutes...idiot. |
