I’m planning on giving October fishing a more honest effort than I have in the past. I don’t have enough money to go Elk hunting this year. A lot of my best summer rock piles are located by main lake basins and stair step down into deep water (50+ feet). Is there a chance that these rock piles will still hold fish in October? I think some of them are possibly spawning areas for ciscos once the water reaches that magic 42 degree mark, but what about before that? What depth should I be looking for fish? Is it reasonable to think some fish might be up in about 14 or 15 ft of water on a nice October day as they are during a day in July? I realize that there are a lot of fish doing a lot of different things, filling different niches, etc., but I would appreciate any help I can get on possible locations of October eyes. The lakes I like to fish are deep and have a ton of structure so there are several places for them to hide.
