Randy,

That's the same weekend as the second tournament of the MWS Series in Oshkosh; any chance there could be an alternate date? I hate to miss the Classic but can't skip a stop in the NTC qualifying series either.

MWS events are on Sunday, so it would be possible to fish both.

Mandatory rules meeting for the MWS would be the only hurdle.

Having time pre-fishing for both would be a hurdle too; could go one place and have partner go the other I guess.

Hey Randy
Why is the classic one week later, it has always been the weekend after the opening of inland fishing , at lease it has the last 5 years, sure going to miss it, have to fish the mws.

If my memory serves me correctly Randy said right after last year's tourney that they cannot run it the same weekend as the opening weekend for inland lakes even though Green Bay is already open for gamefish. I do believe this is something the DNR has put in the rules in regards to tournament fishing.

I belive Randy mentioned moving it back a week last year. If you've fished the it last 3 or 4 years its been pretty brutal weather, and there hoping for a little nicer weather by moving it back.

Remember Gents, the DNR permit apps for tourneys now are filed a LONG time ago for this year. I believe like last June or July. So changing the date is not as easy as it seems.

Also if I am not mistaken The weekend of the 12th is Mothers Day weekend. I know the tourrney is on Sat. but maybe that was a factor in the date selection also.

You are correct regarding the permit. It was pulled some time ago. It is unfortunate that the FRSWC is the same weekend as the MWS qualifier. I believe last year they were the same weekend but on the same body of water. This worked out well. We moved the tournament last year in an attempt to possible enjoy nicer weather a little later in May. We also had some concerns about Mother's Day being the following day. I understand some of our loyal competitors have a conflict here. If it is possible at all to fish both and you need me to talk with Jim about the MWS rules meeting let me know.

I understand some people not being able to fish 1 tourney or the other but there will be no exceptions to missing the rules meeting!!! 1 team partner present or that team is disqualified. End of story.

Nice comment guest. We are done fishing at three, with awards at 4:30. What time is the rules meeting at? Both Jim, Karl, and myself have been running tournaments for many years. I'm sure we could figure something out.

I'd be willing to bet Jim would be willing to hold if he deems necessary a second meeting to accommodate those teams, he's all about promoting the sport not inhibiting it.

i have fished this tourny for about 20 yrs wether it was run by the hockey club or suda or randy its fun and all the prefishing goes out the window come game day so pre fish your other tourny then sat morning when the sun comes up either you go to the bay or stay in river the wind dictatates where you go. so fish have fun there is a lot worse things in this world to worry about

I understand the date can't be change. I just ask that you guys consider moving TFRSC back to it's previous date next year. The weekend before Memorial Weekend is a popular tournament weekend. I won't be able to attend TFRSC this year because my local tournament is the same weekend. It was nice to fish TFRSC the week before and my local tournament the next week.
You guys have a great tournament and I always looked forwarded to it. Good luck this year and I hope you consider a date change for next.

Since the date has been moved back I will be able to fish it for the first time as it always overlapped with another engagment. Thank you ! The weather and the bite should be an improvement from what I've followed from previous years. Thanks again, I am pumped !

This is great news. I have a prior commitment before merc nationals that i would not have been able to make the rules meeting on time but now I will just have Jim hold a second meeting for a few of us that can't make it and we will be all set for the big tourney saturday morning!!! Oh yeah, forgot to mention my tardiness would be due to other tournament issues also.

As much crying that you do, you may want to consider adding a second bilge pump to your boat.

C'mon guys! It's not rocket science! I too have fished both in the past. I have also run into the same situation with 2 tourneys on the same weekend. One partner takes his boat and pre-fishes the MWS body of water and attends the rules meeting while the other partner takes his boat and pre-fishes the other body of water. Best of both worlds and you each get to fish with someone else who just may provide some valuable info for the tourney. Have fun and good luck.

I’ve watched this thread and have been hesitant to comment. I have donated to this tournament for double digit years as well. But, because of the date change I also have a conflict. The Cellcom Marathon is on Sunday the 20th and I wanted to run it in again and really make an attempt at a PR. Alas, I am not sure how I will be able to do that after a full day of fishing on Saturday as that should really be a pre-marathon rest day for me. I have checked the weekend schedule for the Marathon and I am confident that I can make the all-u-can eat spaghetti dinner late Saturday afternoon since chances are that I won’t have a limit of walleyes to weigh anyway. Because marathons are usually on Sundays and Walleye tournaments are on Saturdays, I am sure many of you have run in to this dilemma as well, if so how have you balanced the Walleye/Marathon weekends?

Last year there wasn't a waiting list. The tourney filled about 2-3 weeks after the mail-in day.

I'm just finishing the entry blank right now and it will be going to the printer today. Look for them to arrive in your mailbox the week of February 20th. I'll also be posting a pdf version of the entry here on Walleye First. I'll be starting a new posting to make it easier to find in this forum. Just a reminder...pay attention to the entry blank where it shows the earliest POSTMARK I will accept on the entries. Just make sure it gets postmarked on March 21st. I'll be collecting all entries over a period of time and sorting them by postmark, regardless when they finally arrive in my mailbox. Each postmarked day will be thrown in a hat and team numbers will be assigned.
