Here's the link to the story. Mack's Lure walleye arsenal does it again.

Got my Macks Lure (Smile Blade) order in the mail a few days ago. Good to see I haven't lost my touch.

Dan,

I noticed that you don't have a bead in front of the blades on your harnesses. Is there a reason for that omission or is it just the way you've always done it? I always have a bead in front of the blade...I vaguely remember reading somewhere that it would help deflect flotsam.

I usually make some that do and some that don't. Run the ones with the bead in front usually after a BIG wind, when the water column is full of floating broken weed bits. Being these are the first harnesses I ever tied with smile blades, I wasn't sure how or rather doing so would effect the very light plastic smile blades adversely or not. Thought it better to be safe then sorry. I used 15# coated wire, so I'm hoping that also works with the smile blades. Might try running them tomorrow in the river behind bouncers on our way out to the Bay.

Nice rigs Dan! Don't forget to take a look at the new Slow Death Smile Blade rig. Putting a bead in front of the Smile blade should not affect it. However, I usually do not in case I want to slow down to .5 or .8 mph for the finicky ones.
