| My question is I am running a 04' 1990 pro series (20.1') with a DF 225. I have a 3x16x24.5 stainless prop....she's slow out of the hole and slow top end! 50 to 52mph top end at 5800 rpm. trimed just right to get the 50 to 52mph..I would like to be closer to 60mph if im going to be slow out of the hole. It is the same if I am full of fule and two guys and loaded or empty.. I had the same boat with a optimax 200 and got 55 to 58mph. just wondering if any of you would know my options on props for a suzuki? or any other segestions?? Thanks Ryan |

| How high is the motor mounted? Is it possible it's low enough that the cav plate is dragging in the water? Max RPM on that motor is 6000 I think? If so, not much you can do. NA 4 strokes just don't have the performance of a SC 4 stroke, or a DFI 2 stroke.
Is the motor in good tune, making full power? |

| I belive the motor is mounted high enough...as I can throw a 50ft rooster if I want..
for the motor performance i recently had it in and scanned by a marina and all checked out great. it has plenty of power in mid range but I just thought I would get better top end mph out of a 24.5p prop is all. not sure if anyone has a simmiler set up but would love to hear how its set up and what guys are getting for mph.

| If the info I found is right, you have a 2.29:1 gear ratio on that motor, so 52mph at 5800 is about right for that prop. More pitch, more top end if the motor has the balls to turn it. If you can, get a Merc PVS style prop so you can get the motor to rev up faster with the right venting and maybe get better holeshots. Maybe. |

Location: Fremont, Wisconsin | Start by dropping the motor one hole at a time until you can trim the motor at wide open throttle and NOT THROW A ROOSTER. You loose speed when you are throwing a rooster. There should simply be a hump or a bubble in the wake behind the prop. No rooster. Then you can start to prop this correctly. |
