Location: Manitowoc, WI | I'm currently having the powerhead on my motor replaced. Will this motor have power similar to a new motor? Do motors that are repowered last as long, longer, or shorter than new motors? I'm just trying to figure out what my expectations should be once I get it back. | |

| I had a 50HP Evinrude in the 80's. I ran the guts out of it with heavy loads and the powerhead lasted for about 1200 hours before it let loose. Had the new powerhead installed and put another 900+ hours on it before I sold the boat. It ran like new powerwise, but the rest of the motor was still worn, the shifter, the recoil starter, linkages, trim lock and gearcase. If I were you, I'd expect the motor to run great and have no worries about the powerhead lasting, provided that the servicing dealer checks out the entire fuel delivery system. Bad fuel can be the death of powerheads in no time at all. | |
