Location: Essexville, MI./Saginaw Bay. | Don't suppose I need to inform many of you, I'm pretty much a chang-a-holic, or if you will, a tweek-a-holic. Always looking at fishing stuff and wondering how much further I can take it or change it from it's original design to either perform better or work in conjunction with or in seperate multile applications. Slider spoons/spoon harnesses case in point.
Anyway, spent the whole darn morning putting my tire chains on my 4 wheeler for this winters ice season. Why does it always seem like somebody removes 2 or 3 links of the chain that fit perfectly last year, yet needs hurculene strength to put back on this year. After that was done I started to fool around with the light Finlander Spoons I've been using to make my harness rigs. These are very similar to the Silver Streak Jr.s I run as sliders most often. I want to use them for ice fishing but they are just to light.
Putting anything like a minnow head on them would make them bottom heavy and they would spin in circles as they decended after a jig, versus the (flashing-flips) one usually gets when jigging a spoon. So I filled up the bathtub and dug out some old Storm Suspend-a-Dots and Suspend-a Strips I've had for years. Placed and moved them around on the light lure until I found the perfect spot for the perfect action when baited. Can't wait to try them out.

why couldn't you just let a little air out of the tires when you are putting on tire chains on your 4 wheeler? |

Dennis.
Actually letting air out accomplishes the opposite effect. The tire gets fatter and the chains get tighter when air is let out. Believe me, I know.

I'll accept the Hot Air Monikur. I have recieved the same advice (let out air) from other board users. I did not do that today because I thought I recalled doing so one other time and couldn't get the chains on at all. I'm thinking now that may not have been the case and might have been some other problem. I will try Dennis's advice next time I put them on.
PS. I remember now. The tire went flat and the chains were a mutha to get off because they got so tight. I imagine letting all the air out might be to much.
