Location: Essexville, MI./Saginaw Bay. | Fished in the SBWC River tournament last Sunday and man what a WILD event that was. Sustained winds at 25 to 30 with winds gusts to 40 MPH. And waves and white Caps on 99% of the river. To say boat control was a nightmare would be a vast under statement. Yet we toughed it out for a 2nd place finish and weighed in the only 5 fish team limit at the launch. We did so by traveling almost 27 miles (one-way) in my Jet Boat up the Saginaw and into the familliar waters of the Tttabawassee. Smaller fish were the rule in the Tittabawassee, but the even more horrible fishing conditons on the Saginaw made that stratigy a sound one. We weighed in 5 walleyes weighing 7.85 pounds and were edged out with a 3 fish stringer from the Saginaw that included a 6 pounder and 2 keeper walleyes that beat us by less then a pound. But in my eyes, them boys really earned it and deserved the win. Got a pictures from the day before the tourney when we were practicing on the Tittabawassee River in WAY less wind. Kinda wish we would have caught this 20 incher as a kicker fish the day of the tournemant.

| Jet boats and 27 mile runs?
It's no wonder the tournament scene is failing....us mere mortals just can't relate anymore |

Truth is the Tittabawassee has always been included in the allowable fishing boundries but has never been long-shaft friendly, even during high water tables on the Great Lakes. The flip side is of course. I loose some time and comfort running that flat bottom Jet on the Saginaw Bay in those 3 and 4 footers.
