Did a quicky tonight on a small lake close by (Weyers) and managed to ice these fine fish specimens shown in the link below. The only way they bit was if the bait was slightly bouncing upwards a foot off of and from the bottom.

| Say Rick, I don't see a bobber, were you straight lining those gills, or using a spring bobber?

| Hi Rick, I am making some plastic tails for fishing pearch, bluegills, and cropies. They look great on the end of an ice jig. We have to give them a try. I think that they would work great. Give me a call after Christmas. Your gillies look tasty. |

Ok Pat, we'll have to hook up on a trip soon so I can test those fishy looking tails that you make.
And Jack, that rod tip is a'kin to a spring bobber, very light and able to show the slightest touch. The problem with a bobber on finicky biters is, the bobber is in a fixed position, whereas without (a bobber), you can work the water column.
Every single bluegill bit when I was jiggling an extra small jig up from the bottom. If I didn't touch the bottom with it, they wouldn't touch it.

| That is an HT Ice Blue rod. Nice selection. The tip is so light that you don't need a spring.

Yeah Trap, mousies were the bait and 2 pound test is the reason such a light jig could be presented without a splitshot.
Course you'll know those light bluegill bites are actually the fish coming up with the bait, right? With a slpit shot on the line you would never see the line go slack, in time!
