| Had a great time and got some nice pictures and material for literary purposes. Len is a fun guy to fish with and he sure put us on some quality fish, although we didn't catch any BIG ones. I had the best luck pitching an 1/8 oz Odd Ball jig tipped with a 3" grub tail on to an outside bend with a distinct 8' deep shelf just above a slough entrance. The current would pull the bait off the shelf and to an eager walleye. The 20 mph wind on Saturday put us on a different pattern and we caught some more walleyes and a couple of nice saugers too. I estimate the biggest fish of the weekend was just under 20" and we measured a couple of nice SOLID 18" footballs, (all males). Len got the fryer going after we got back Friday and I had one of the best tasting and nicest cut ribeye steaks I've ever had at his bar on Saturday night. I stayed up the road at the Grandview Motel in Ferryville. The rooms were very comfortable and it was an easy drive to the launch by Falling Rock or Genoa. I just got introduced to the area last spring and I plan on it being a part of my fishing every year. Met some super nice people that talked about the history of the area, the fishing, duck hunting and more. Plus, Len had a story or two when given the chance. Thanks again Len, see you soon!! |

| I Agree Doc! Len and Sandy are great people! I enjoy fishing out there as often as I can. Last year I got out there twice fishing the river through the ice. Len has a great ride service to get you up to the dam area to fish the river. I have started looking for possibly a place out there close to Lynxville for a fishing retreat, I have once thought about the Winnebago area but am not sure anymore. I enjoy fishing the open water fishing more these days and the river is basically openwater almost year round for walleye fishing, if it freezes you still can get out on top of the ice and catch walleye and sauger.

Location: Northern Illinois | Hey guys, sorry for this probably silly question. I read lots of nice comments about Falling Rock. What is Falling Rock? A bar, a town, a specific launch? A Fishing Club? Just trying to learn.
thanks WM |

| Falling Rock is a nice bar & grill with a bait shop, located just across from the boat ramp that's the Gordon's Bat boat ramp located just a short distance below Lock dam #9,just south of Lynxville). Serves good food breakfast to a great steak and a little of everything in between. I'll be done with his website in a day or two so you can see more about the place. I'll post when it's up.
