Was out off of Calumetville this morning for a half hour or so. The wind picked up and I heard a loud rumlbe so I checked the crack that I had crossed and it was getting wider as I stood there. I grabbed my stuff and walked south a bit before I found a spot I could cross. I think I made it off just in time. Then I went to Becker lake and Rick L. from this site came out and we set up 4 tip-ups for pike and jigged for panfish. We had good action right away catching bluegills, yellow bass, and a crappie. Then the bite died and we packed up for the night. Once again I had to drag Rick off the ice as the wind pushed staight away from our vehicles at the landing. It was an exciting way to start the year. Be careful on the ice!

Nice report trap.

Heard on the radio that some guy off Winnebago, near Malone, had to be rescued off an ice flow. It had broke off and drifted out into the lake along with the poor sap. Wonder how close you were to that guy.
