Finally got all my ducks in a row and I'm headed up to LBDN for this coming Monday and Tuesday. Heard theres pleanty of ice and some very good walleye catches hitting the ice. Me and two of my friends are going up and plan on fishing out of my Otter Skin Shanty. I will jig with two rods on one side of the shanty and my two buds will jig with one each on the other side. That will leave two more lines that can legally be utilized by three people in the form of tip-up's, set on the outside of the shanty. 2 rods X 3 fishermen=6 lines.
Now the law says all tip-up's shall have written on them the name of their owner. This is to make it impossible for the owners to claim ignorance to their presence when they are indeed using more than the two the laws allows. But what if my name is on the two tip-up's outside, and I'm simply letting my two buds use them as their second lines set? Am I going to be held responsible and be fined for having 4 lines in use at the same time? I tried to contact the DNR main offfice here in Bay City, but they're closed till Monday morning. And I plan on being hard at it well before they open on Monday.
This tip-up issue is unfamiliar to me, as I never use them on the Saginaw Bay. In fact the one's I found were my Dad's he used 21 years ago for Big Pike on Munoscong Bay.

Location: blue mounds, wisc | i have allready asked a warden about this.he said that if your observed checking and useing more than you can claim as your lines than your getting a ticket. therefore if you and your buddies want to have two or three jig rods baited in the shack is ok.so dont have an extra rod in the shack that can be seen as it was being used before the warden rolls up. |

| What exactly is the law with an unattended tip-up, different people say different things, some say an unattended tip-up is illegal, others say you can be gone for like 15 min |

| In Wisconsin, all lines must be attended to at all times I don't know what distance that refers to and that is probably a grey it could be a couple hundred feet. But don't take my word for it. I think if your gonna leave the area ya better pull your lines
Good Luck

Location: Rhinelander | One warden I knew here used to walk up to a tip up he suspected was unattended, pick it up, and set it back down a few times. If no one hollered at him, he waited until someone finally showed up. If they came for a long distance, they got a ticket. |

Location: blue mounds, wisc | pretty sure that in wisc. you must be no farther than 100 yards from your tip-ups. |

Location: Essexville, MI./Saginaw Bay. | To tidy up my post guy's. I plan on covering my name on the tip-up's with duct tape and writing both my buds names on them versus taking any chances in the (Gray Room) area. |
