Howdy,

I am on the horns of a dilemma here, and any info from you all would be greatly appreciated.

This here computer is using Road Runner for the internet, however I am thinking of switching to DSL.

Have any of you used DSL, or both? And if so is DSL fast enough?

It is not supposed to be as fast as cable, according to road runner, but then according to the DSL outfit, that is not as extreme a difference as RR would have me believe.

Of course each is gonna say they are superior to the other so I felt the need to ask those who use each, and am really looking for those who have used both.

Any input is welome, thanks.

Hi there No Fish

Well, this good question can take on the heated debate's of aluminum versus glass, Yammie versus Black and so forth. But the real truth is the ultimate decision is based uppn the reputation of the providers in your area, and of course the cost differences.

Cable is a shared type of medium. The more users that use cable in your area, the increased likely hood the speed for your connection can degrade. So the advertised speed may be higher than for DSL, but then, it is being shared with others. As more people signup for cable, is the speed change noticeable over time?? I am not sure.

DSL is a dedicated speed, and not shared, so regardless of how many users in your area, the speed over time should remain pretty constant.

I run DSL and run at 760KB, but that is the speed I get from Ameritech/SBC.

I hope this helps. Either way, the new connection will probably scream in comparison to what you run today. Good Luck WM
