Location: Menasha, WI | Doing a litle navigational reconnaissance on Winnebago I came across some markings identifying cribs, one near Waverly Beach and one near the Neenah Pool. Anyone know anything about these? Are they artificial structures or something else? Are they still there? and most importantly do they hold fish? |

Location: Omro,Wi. | Don't know if these are the same type,of cribs, but many years back, when the logging industry was going full force, they built a series of rock piles, and timber cribs, along the west shore. They had poles in them, and chains connected to floating log ends, stretched across to hold the logs back, that were floated down the Fox River. There are 22 that I know of,from Stretches Point, all the way,to the big island north of oshkosh.Yes they do hold fish. Some of them go out a mile or more from shore, and lots of the timber is still down there. There is one place, that my dad,and friends called the log-jam,off the rivers mouth. What it was is a lot of logs that actually sank over time,or got driven into the bottom from the ice moving. This is a spot common to most of my friends, however we call it the sand bar now..just to kind of keep it a secret. If you look at it thru a camera, the logs are only 5 or 6 feet long now.Weeds and moss covers most of them.I have never gone there in the summer without catching a walleye or some nice perch. The Oshkosh Public Museum has some good pictures from the past, that will give you some ideas,of where these and other nice structures are.Hope it answers your question...Hafe |

Location: Menasha, WI | Thanks Hafe. The map I have only identifies a couple of these cribs and I have GPS coordinates for the two I mentioned. I'll have to give them some attention if we ever get any ice on the north end. |

Location: Berlin | I will give you 3 of the old Hot n' Tots and a deep junior for the coordinates! I just think you deserve something for putting in all the work. I found a pile of logs smack dab in the middle of bago one year. If these piles produce as good as that one I will give you a whole box of Tots. |

Location: neenah wi | I believe the one you are refering to infront of the neenah pool is a water intake for neenah water works. Fished a few times and never really did all that great. Some perch and sheeps not really worth the time. Not real sure about the other one. Never been able to find it. |

Location: Appleton | I believe the one near Waverly is the water intake for the Waverly sanitary district. I tried fishing it last year with no luck. |

Location: Oshkosh,WI | The one out in front of Waverly is actually a discharge. In the summer you can see it clearly with the purple stained water boiling on the surface. It has eaten a few of my anchors as well! I have caught fish there early in the year. My guess is they like the warmer water. It is pretty easy to find, line up the small brown shed that the pumps arein ad head straight out. You will see a mess of garbage on your graph and the water temp will increase a little.
