Just wondering what everyone thinks is there most valuable piece of gear?
Some suggestions could be
Graph(GPSsonar) linecounter reels, electric, motor kicker, Troll master just some thoughts.

I would have to go with graph(GPSsonar) combo.
At first thought it could have been the MinnKota while fishing the Detroit River, but I have broke cables and used the kicker or even the big motor. I just feel naked without the graph whether it is trolling or jigging or any type of fishing.

My handydandy Blues Brothers-styled In-Fisherman sunglasses. Would be in great pain to be on the water without these!

thinking about it , sonar would be up there but i had mine fail me this fall. i had to fish a tourny without it.it didnt stop me from taking first place.its gotta be my GPS .i pretty much troll and if you cannot get your boat speed down than i really am lost.but then if that was lost i would have to rely on myself to look at lure action over the side of the boat,BOAT thats it .

THATS THE MOST IMPORTANT PIECE . NO BOAT , NO TROLL

I would have to say the thing that I would miss most on the water is my own good health. Last summer I spent a month with some pretty intense back problems and man did I discover just how important that it is to maintain your most important piece of equipment, your own body. Good health to all.

I would have to say my linecounter reel. Because I know the lakes that I fish on pretty well and the fish stay at almost the same spots.

My sonar is absolutey the most important piece of gear on my boat. Without that thing, I feel absolutely disarmed, and badly blind, too. A close second is my Minn Kota, without which I must troll.

On the Tittabawassee it's my white water boat and jet drive motor itself. Traveling 30mph over water ankle to knee deep, strewn with obstackles that would tear the guts out of another rig is fantastic. This rig owes me nothihg for it's years of reliable and unique service. I bought it for $12,800.00 in 1988 and was offered that same amount at the launch 2 years ago for it. Nice deal but replacing it would be about 25,000.00 in todays market.

For me it may sound CRAZY but on my "HOME" water it would be my little hand held recorder. Just to much to remember and a lot of little things can change every day. Hutch

To be honest with ya....I think it would be difficult to catch a fish without a hook.

I can remember the first time my dad took me fishing with a cane pole, a bobber, and a hook. Heck, can even remember making "canepoles" out of a tree branch.

There are a lot of things that I know I take for granted in the boat. but it's hard to imagine fishing without them somedays.

when it comes to fishing the great lakes i would have to say my
fishhalk. What this devise does it gives you tenp and speed if you
find the prefered temp at what ever depth, you should be able to catch
fish all day long. another thing when fishing deep water walleyes or
salmon. If you are fishing 50 to 60 ft down and deeper you can run in
to some currents. your surf temp could say 2mph but it could be 3to4
mph 60ft down.

If my fishing buddies are quailfied as equipment then they would be first, otherwise it would be sonar/gps combo.

I'm realizing more and more each year how important it is to have a good camera in the boat, so as to save the memories that are made on the water with your friends. Sometimes I think we take these good times too much for granted, and don't think about what fishing could may be like some day in the future. I came to realize this some time ago when I lost a good friend and realized I had not saved many of our experiences on film to be enjoyed at a later time. Now that the time I never thought would come is here, I don't have anything to look back on. That friend was my dad.

This is a hard question to answer with one object. A boat is not needed to catch a walleye so that excudes everything that has to do with boats. If I didnt have a rod and reel I would notbe able to fish. If I had a rod and reel, I would need line and baits. So I guess I would say that the most important piece of equipment would be a rod/reel with a few baits. That is a very hard question!!!
