Location: Rhinelander | The MWS Winnebago site was quite a scene today as the Mercury Service and Ranger Boats service trucks and crews, and representatives from the Industry attended the Winnebago MWS weigh in in support of the MWS family. Jim Coon most certainly will be missed.
Tony Esposito took the stage as the MWS Master of Ceremonies, weighing in 63 boats; a field short from the norm because of the overlapping MWC and the 'blow day' possibility there which may have pushed the last day of the Oconto event to overlap with the Winnebago MWS.
Green Bay's Rick Henriksen and Tom Zollar weighed 18.6 to take the win. Techniques ranged from jigging the river to trolling the North end, and fishing the Cane. The bite was soft after the cold front rolled through last night, so limits were at a premium.
Jeff Hanson and Norb Wisniewski took second with 16.82. Steve Slabe and Lance Busse took third with 16.44. Pete Petta and David Cooper took fourth with 16.14, and rounding out the top five were Chris Spiering and Ryan Deeg with 16.12.
