A transom saver is used for just that, to save the transom any unneeded wear while trailering. The transom straps hold the boat securely to the trailer so it does not bounce around. The transom saver securely holds the motor to the trailer so when the rig bounces down the road, it bounces as one. If you use the kick outs that the motor manufacturer supplies, it will still cantelever and twist the transom of the boat.
Transom savers are WORTH IT.

| I just switched this year away from a traditional transom saver. Last fall mine had cracked in the craddle (where it sits against the motor). I picked up the M-Y Wedge this year along with the centering clips. So far I like it and seems to be working well. But I would go with at least something for the protection. |

Location: Fremont, Wisconsin | I would not recommend the M-Y wedge in lew of a transom saver. In my professional opinion It is a hydraulics saver, not a transom saver. The motor can and will cantelever going down the road and work at twisting the transom. |

Location: Kaukauna WI | Thanks for the input everyone. This is a great place to get answers and good info. I believe I will be getting the panther transom saver out of Overtons, it looks like it would fit my trailer the best. Thanks again |
