BEWARE! Oshkosh parks director Ray Mauer is out to hit your wallet. About 100 people fined in Menominee Park alone this weekend. I was one of them. I was advised by Mr. Mauer to take it to court. If I don't pay in 45 days, Mr. Mauer will see to it that my registration of my vehicle will be revoked and I will no longer be able to drive until I pay. This can and will happen to you in Oshkosh. Fine is 15 dollars and goes up after 5 days. Call city hall immediately at 920-236-5000 to stop Mr. Mauer from spoiling your fun time. This guy must go. I talked to one of his park Nazi"s and the order was given to fine everyone, no exceptions. Go to court or loose your vehicle. Welcome to Oshkosh on the water.

I must be missing something....are you claiming you unjustly got a ticket?

Apparently, they fined any vehicle/trailer combo that wasn't either parked on the street or in one of the longer stalls. If you parked in a front & back stall together, like in front of the sailboat docks, you got a parking ticket. The lot was full because of the MWS tournament and a baseball tournament. I'm sure many of you have parked in these stalls before and not been fined. I don't want to get political, but this is what they call a "Cash Grab". A quick easy way to make some money. They make the fine just low enough that most people will just pay it, instead of deal with the headache of fighting it. Maybe they should take that money and fix that piece of road in front of the volleyball courts that has been crap for the last 10 years. It was a crappy deal that should have been handle differently. How, I have no idea. Oh, and FYI, several of the people there for the baseball game were parked in illegal spots, but they never got tickets.

They got me on Saturday. I made the call on Monday but I didn't talk to this guy.

I started with someone in parking tickets, she sent me to someone in charge of parks and she sent me to someone in charge of the rangers.
The last lady said that you can park in two stalls until 4pm on weekdays and until 8 AM during the weekend. That really helps right?

I paid the ticket and enclosed a note voicing my displeasure.

Memominee park is the nicest launch in Oshkosh. Ten ramps and five docks when you count the one down by the sailboats, but only about 15 vehicle and trailer stalls. Just doesn't make sense.

Wonder how many tickets they will give out for Otter Street?

Try and park in a valid parking spot once. I do and guess what? I never got a ticket! It's funny how that works sometimes. Also, paying for the launch fee works too.

Got me on Saturday too.

There is 8 ramps, 6 handicap parking spots and approximately 12 for the rest of us. Tell me how that is right.

They weren't ticketing today.

My guess is that they have different rules depending on what is going on at the park.

Either way boat launching was $18 that day.

Once again the fisherman pays the bills.

All I did was launch by the sailboat launch, like always. As you enter from the north by Webster Stanley, I took a sharp right turn and launched by sailboat launch and parked straight ahead, like I did 100 times before. A sign facing north is not visible when coming from west. The sign says no parking in double stalls, which was never enforced before. I never new the sign was there. I asked park personnel if the sign was visible and there answer was no. They said they will move sign or install others by entrance. They admitted the mistake, sign is not visible. Doesn't matter, pay the fine or lose your driving rights. I"ll guarantee many others will be fined for the same thing. I was told to park in the road, on hazel st. or go home.

The parks number is 236-5080, if you talk to him personally you"ll find out what a jerk this guy is. SILLY POST? anyone without a launch pass should be ticketed, you may think your parking legal but when it"s overcrowed like most of the time, they make up rules to get you. A city council person told me its happening all over Oshkosh, and the decision to fine me was wrong and that them admitting that they have to correct the sign issue and still penalize you is doubley wrong.

As of 10 A.M today the sign in question has been turned and is now visible to anyone entering from the west ( Webster Stanley ). I was told that I'm still at fault even though they admitted they made a mistake. By my actions others will not have to be fined and go through what I did. It was never about the money, I was going to take the 15 dollars and add 15 more and give it to the animal shelter. They really think I'm an A-HOLE now, us fisherman are suppose to look out for each other, I would expect the same treatment from you if I were to come and fish your waters. YES it's me Mark, I'm Mark O's dad. Now you all no. Mark knows how upset I am about this and he knows I'm just trying to protect the rest of you. I worked 32 years for the people that fined me. I know how they operate. GOOD LUCK TO ALL THIS MONTH.

Give it to 'em Mike! They started that two years ago and a bunch of guys got fined. They were NOT happy. No warnings after they changed their policy. That is Oshkosh for you. I am so happy to not live in that cess pool.

I too got fined last year by the park Nazi. I wonder if a person unhooks his trailer while parked in a double stall, would they still get a ticket? I vow to never support an Oshkosh event again if at all possible. I will launch in Stockbridge and motor across. Obviously the people who run that city don't know how much money comes in from fishermen.
