Location: Rhinelander | The prefish bite was reportedly very tough, but eased some today for many of the MWC teams. Walleyes were caught shallow on the weeds, deep on the breaks, and very deep, but the bite still was not stellar. Cranks, jigs, and rigs all produced fish.
Travor Diegel and Paul Steffen of Pierre, South Dakota are in first after day one with 16-01. Minnesota's Minke and Minke are in second with 15-12. Topper and Anderson, also from Minnesota, hold third slightly less than 2 pounds off the lead.
Morris and Brruer are in fourth with 14 even, and Carlson and Holm round out the top 5.
Tomorrow promises an improved bite as some weather moves in to the Cass Lake area, offering better wind conditions for the entire day and some possible cloud cover. The field leaves Stony Point a 8 AM, and returns at 4 PM.

Location: Rhinelander | The morning weather looked to be exactly what the MWC Teams were looking for, and anticipation the bite will be better today is high. All of the teams in the top 5 felt their patterns will hold and improve.
Cloudy conditions with more wind is the rule today, with a slight chance of a shower.
Rigging, snap jigging, and pulling cranks seem to be what's hot, with several teams mentioning Berkley GULP has been hot on the jigs this week, due to the number of Perch on Cass and the fact GULP holds up to the abuse the panfish offer while keeping the presentation in the water and in front of the walleyes.
It's going to be a shootout this afternoon; the event could literally be won by anyone in the top 30.
