Subject: Chris Gilman Wins the 2013 NWT Devils Lake Championship

Location: Rhinelander

The top ten left Graham's Island at 7 AM this morning under clear skies, moderate winds, and temps in the upper 30's. Tom Keenan feels his bite will improve today, as did Danny Plautz, for several reasons including the lower wind speeds allowing for better boat control, far fewer competitors on the spots, and wind direction out of the East to South East that produced well in practice.

Jigging Raps, crankbaits, and spinners are on the menu today. Mark Courts said he will start with the jigging Raps, then move to the other presentations this morning fishing deeper road beds and bridges.

The weigh in will begin at about 3PM, and should be wrapped up in time for dinner.

Chris Gilman won it. The first National Walleye Tour Campionship is in the books, and Gilman is the Champion for a payday of over $87,000.00 including cash, a new Ranger/Evinrude package, and contingencies.

To report it was 'close' would be a gross understatement.

Chris weighed 22.26 today fr a total of 55.91. Joshua Vanderweide weighed 22.93 to total 55.86 for second, worth over $40K in cash and prizes. Danny Plautz Jr. weighed 24.27 to take third with 55.41. Jigging Raps ruled the day.

Danny got 4 of his fish in the last 15 minutes.

Local Pro Matthew Taylor took fourth with 54.14, and Gil Mollet rounded out the top five weighing a total for three days at 53.02.

Robert Blosser took Angler of the Year after a bit of confusion with a reversal of a DQ on Friday was cleared up. He takes home a custom built AOY ring and free entry into the NWT for 2014.
