Hey guys, after a banner spring and over 600 walleyes in the boat casting/jigging, it's on to Musky season as per my usual seasonal progression. However, with the kids now really enjoying catching fish, and big enough to do so, I purchased a group of 6 walleye trolling combos. They came pre spooled with 12lb suffix mono(perhaps a bit heavy for some lures?) line counters etc. Nice setups. In liue of doing my normal Musky trolling folowed by stopping to jig up a few eyes when I see them on my screen, I'd really like to dial in the walleye trolling pattern on Petenwell(my backyard) to do with my kids/wife on occasion through the summer. I know guys get fish in the river channel but I really would like to know what guys are doing on the main lake that are recording such nice catches. With no help, I'd just run 6 rigs, perhaps weighting my inside rods to get near bottom with stright cranks, followed by flickers/raps etc at varied lengths on the boards...?.. Should I be running weights on most lures over certain depths/for weed control etc? 1.5-2.0mph typically best? What do you look for on the big flowages? I think guys do well out here with cranks all year vs the bay where perhaps the crawler deal becomes neccessary(not entirely sure on this). I run a 690 Tiller with a 90 Yamaha with vst so I can get down to harness speeds if neccessary.

I'm not sure if this is the correct venue for this request, as it's rare that I ask for such detailed advice, so I apologize if this isn't the place for it. However if anyone would care to help steer me here or via pm, email or phone, I'd be delighted to trade some Musky info(yes I know this is a walleye board and everyone hate's Muskies), or smallie, panfish etc. If someone knowledgeable would like to tag along one morning over the next week, the trip is on me.

Thanks much in advance.

Always did well trolling the stump fields on flats off of river channels using Wally divers and shad raps. Use power pro 20 pound and turn front treble hooks up so they do not snag.

I troll Pete a lot. Sorry for the late response just haven't checked the board in a while. The trolling bite just gets better as the summer wears on.

One thing people overlook on this body of water is the fact that those fish suspend. I caught some slots on Saturday 6' down over 12' of water. I run flickers, hornets and hot-n-tots all summer on this body of water and catch a ton of fish.

I fish the edge of the river channel this time of year, and when it gets really hot, I look for suspended fish over the deep water 30' etc... I'll catch them 5' down over 30' of water in July/August on this system.

I like to find bends in the river channel so I can cover different directions of travel, as the fish will relate to wind blown river edges etc.... This is not at all like open water trolling, as I almost always am running a break of some sort (unless I'm fishing suspended fish over 25-30 feet of water).
