| question #26 that will be on the agenda for the spring hearings this year
.
Modification of the early season walleye fishing in the Fox River (050515)
Current fishing regulations and new access to the river along the r
iver walk in De Pere has increased access
for anglers to this popular area during the spring walleye run. Night fishing creates unique challenges for
law enforcement and illegal activities can be more difficult to detect at night. A night fishing prohibi
tion
area, similar to those found on the Peshtigo and Oconto River systems, could be established to assist law
enforcement in reducing the illegal activity in this area during the spring walleye spawning run. (See the
proposed area on the map.)
26.
Would you
support a nighttime fishing prohibition during the spring
walleye spawning run (March 1 to the regular fishing opener) within the
shaded area below the De Pere Dam on the map

| As many times that I have fished there during the day and sometimes all night too I have never been checked by a game warden. If they want to curb illegal activity then they should probably get their butts out there instead of denying people fishing opportunities. This has been going on for decades why all of a sudden is this a problem? The fishery is still going strong. Just another opportunity to take something away that doesn't need to be done.

| 30 incher, you asked for a response, please don't get negative if it is not what you want to hear. I have never fished it so I can't comment one way or the other.

| well so far all I have seen is yes to 26 no negativity so far.can anybody explain why it is needed there is already a fish refuge there. If its about law enforcement then they need to be out there and show a presence. like i have said never seen any law enforcement out there be it game wardens or sheriff patrol on the water. I have fished there for the last 15 years.

| For you people that are saying yes what is your reasoning behind saying yes. Obviously you are fisherman why are you so willingly ready to deny fishing opportunities to your fellow fisherman? Like I have said before if its about law enforcement they need to make their presence known. If its about the fish I dont know what to say because there are plenty of them out there.
