| What is the 'preferred' sonar out on the water these days? What do you own? Should I get a sonar/GPS combo, or stand alone stuff? |

Rookie.
I run an X-15 for my fish finder and a Raytheon C map for my GPS. My old eyes can hardly pick up the graphics and numbers on a big screen, let alone a split screen. Plus I have the room to do so.

| Foe me fishing the river 95% of the time, my choice is two networked Pinpoint sonar units. Being able to see two transducers, one at the bow and one at the stern, at the same time is a great advantage when drifting and jigging. The flashchart option is great for looking for fish and the units are upgradable should they come out with anything new. Lots of features, GPS compatable, list price $599 I think. |

Location: Rhinelander | I run a Sitex GPS and two Sitex Profish 3 units. I like the sonars alot, and really like the GPS. Nice stuff, but just a bit less 'user friendly' thsn some on the GPS. |

| Rookie there are so many options on your question.If you dont have either units at this point i would recommend going with the dual unit.Technology has squished a whole lotta electronics in todays units!Some of the factors on your purchase should be where are the main type of waters you will be using this unit and how much do i have to spend!If needing anymore detailed info on specs and models let me know or go to lorance website its very detailed.Hope that helps |
