what is your normal job consist of? I am a carpenter in the Milw. area. I've been at this company for the past four years. I mostly do commercial jobs, the job consists of framing walls (steel studs) drywall, suspended ceilings, vct floor tile, hanging doors and putting all the hardware on them, cabinets/countertops and many other smaller misc. items to boot.

Before this company, I was a rough/finish carpenter for another local company for seven years. I've worked on high-end homes and many 8-56 family condo projects. I think I enjoyed this line of work better than the commercial projects I'm currently on, just for the fact that it was outside work and I like working/being outdoors. I was a foreman for 3 years before leaving this company and always think to myself "why did I leave".

If anyone has any questions for a carpenter just let me know and I'll see if I can help you out. So, what do you guys do for a normal job?

I'm generally a paint formulator and master color technician. Unfortunately, due to our economic conditions, I'm doing whatever it takes to pay the bills. Currently, I'm working for a paint applicator redoing shutdown auto plants. Pretty cool job and I'm finally getting over my fear of heights by working off of lifts all day. And it pays better!

Retired GM foundry worker.

25 years of Pouring/Stacking Grey/Nodular Iron V-8 V-6 L-4 engine blocks, transmissions carriers, crankshafts, steering knuckles, water pumps, yokes, break discs, heads to all motor types, camshafts, manifiolds and a 100 jobs and parts I forgot in-between. If you own a GM car/truck older than 1996, odds are good I had a hand somewhere in making it's motor or drive train. Retired when I was 43.

I am the glowboy, a.k.a. nuclear physicist at everyone's favorite power plant, Point Beach Nuclear. I've been doing this for 21 years, the first 8 as a contractor for Westinghouse Nuclear, the next 8 years for ComEd at Zion, IL and the last 5 1/2 years at Point Beach. The job offers enough challenges from day to day to make it enjoyable, but I sure would like to win some major cash in the walleye game and retire!!!

I was originally trained in formal french dining, both here in the U.S. and in France. I was Maitre'D of Le`Cafe Royale, in the L`Hotel Sofitel, which is the formal dinning room in the first French hotel built in America. During the 17 years I was a manager, I had the opportunity to serve many famous people including the President of the U.S.A., Princess Grace of Monaco, Sofia Loren, The King and Queen of Norway, as well as a number of other celebrities from the entertainment industry. I walked away from that line of work because the little time I did have to fish was not enough, so I said....to hell with it, I'm going fishing till the day I die. Now I own and operate my own small guide service and during the winter months I wait tables in a suburban upscale yet casual restaurant. Every year about mid April the owner, who has been a friend of mine for a number of years says he'll keep my position open for me till I get back from fishing. I hope to expand my guiding work to include the Florida Gulf coast during the winter months in a couple years.

I manufacture fishing tackle, full time fishing guide and plow snow. Good thing for the tackle business because the snow plowing down here this year wasn't much. Hutch

I was in the trucking and warehousing business in Hartland Wi. but for financial reasons, I no longer work there :). I keep thinking that fishing is my life, but I now find myself working as a Business Broker with Metropolitan Business Brokers. We have a good office that will provide service to our customers and still get me in the boat.
Take care,
Jim O

eyefever,
One of the things I love about ole Kiss is that he is always positve that we will catch fish, no matter how badly they beat us up. And, of course there is the constant entertainment value (diving competition at the last website outing, and actually coming up with those keys... unbelievable)
Take care,

My family owns J Stadler Machine Inc on 20th just past the pepsi plant in Oshkosh. My dad, brother and I run it and we currently have around 35 employees. It is because of this buisness that I was able to give tournament fishing a go. If any of you are in the nieghborhood, stop in and say hi.
