First things first - Eastern Orthodox Christianity has a forgiveness day today - so I beg everyones' forgiveness in case my ways have come against theirs. With me fishing is all about being alone with nature (maybe a close friend along). Regardless of whether on the end of the line there is a tiny 3-4 inch Perch ready to grab even a booger if it was presented to their attention.
Fighting for dear life with all they got:
Or, maybe, a nice walleye shaking its head and giving you all it's got in energetic fight:
I guess everyone will agree with me - ultraweight is the way to go if you want to experience the ultimate action, feel and emotion. I know how highly "unprofessional" it might turn out whet the toothy critters snap you off, but that I consider a part of the sport ;). The waters I usually target surely hold some tough fighters. Whoever has seen my reports knows how often I get Northerns on my 4# test line fishing crappie minnows under a bobber - a lot of guys will say that it is insane but if there is a long shank hook and the hook set is timely... that will be a fight to remember! Often Smallies and Largemouths will take that same presentation Trout will not pass on a tasty easy meal in turn. All I am saying is you do not need to go "Heavy Duty" when it is all about the fun. I like fishing a universal presentation that could get me any kind of fish and put me to the test rather than hang in there with the braided bass line that "drags them out" in the heaviest of cover. And just keep ripping lips and tossing bodies in the boat or on the shore. Unsurpassed emotion is all fishing represents for me.
This guy is not going to take me places but surely is more fun to get on the "hair" line and not on a 10# rope.
And one other thing I would like to touch upon - funny and impressively shocking as it might seem modern technology has made "pound test" classifications of fishing lines obsolete! World records being broken with "4lb test" lines getting on-board couple of hundred pound marine muscle machines such as Tuna, Sharks and Blue Marlins of sorts could very easily be explained - an easily accessible on the European Market company by the name of D.A.M. offers Hypron braided line tha for the standard 4# test diameter of 0.25mm has a Breaking Strain of whopping 40.7lb ` 18.5kg that is year 2001 speaking - and I am far from thinking that their lines are the foremost in fishing technology. Military budgets invent breakthrough materials that once outlived their novelleness are more than welcome to join civil industries - feats of contemporary science have given kevlar bulletproof vests to the armed forces and the revolutionary kevlar leaders for toothy critters from Northerns and Muskies to Sharks and Sea Wolves replacing highly visible metal braids.

| MBBS Code is provided for everyone's use as opposed to HTML, as we don't want people executing unwanted HTML code within these messages.
