Just got back from Ontario and a day spent on St.Lukes Bay, Lake St.Claire. We drove down this morning and fished till 4:30 this afternoon. Caught what I can only discribe as Monster Perch. I personally caught 39 with 8 over 13 inches, and none under 9. Driving out the 5.67 miles in our 4 wheelers was a piece of cake. No cracks, no snow to speak of, thick ice and little to no rough spots anywhere.

Best bait was a simple Crappie rig with small live minnows. Only shocker was the $61.00 dollars for an anual Canadian license, $10.00 for 4 dozen minnows and $3.50 for 18 wax worms. Actually best deal if you went back more than twice, as the 7 day is $39.00. All in all we had a ball. I'm thinking us 5 guys iced about 150 perch and many real wall hangers if a man was so inclined to mount a perch.

I'm posting a couple pictures of my fish today as an attachment. Sure is nice to add a decent report for a change, even if it isn't about my home waters of Saginaw Bay.

Captain Dan, That's an awesome catch of perch. It's amazing how the perch population has come back on St. Clair. Maybe, it'll do the same on the Bay soon, too.

Richfish.

Don't worry that I litered the place up in my shack when I was there. That stuff you see above/left on the ice in the picture of the bag of perch, was my lunch and the leavings from Geno's fisheries Smoked Chubs. The skins, heads and vertibrate. I leave nothing that isn't biodegradable or seagull eatable. I do love my smoked fish and the smell it leaves on your hands even when fishing, can only help versus hurt.

Rick.

You never did answer my question on the other board. Are you coming over to my neck of the woods next Monday, March 1st? When you said next week on my fishing report, I wasn't sure if you ment next week starting this past Monday or Next week meaning next/next Monday.

Oh my, your right!

I did read that post but have got caught up in my routine and haven't sent word to you!!!! Yes, YES, am coming next week. Will leave Monday and hopefully get close before I crash (thats fall asleep in a nice hotel room type of crash:-)). Then hope to fish a bit on Tuesday and meet you anytime during the day or night. Wednesday is open, but probably will want to leave sometime in the afternoon.

Also want to get some of my lead weights to perchjerker, think maybe you can hold them for him until the weekend? And, want to meet up with BO and Jake, just because they're friends. So it may be we have a big pow wow over there near Linwood.

Other than meeting you, really want to find a secluded type motel or cabin to stay at while I'm there for the MWC tournament. Would be great if you have something to offer here.

And I'm planning to buy you dinner!

O.K. Rick.
I'm assuming that perchjerker is coming up this way as well then later next week, as he lives about 100 miles or so South of me and the Saginaw Bay. There is two Motels that are close to Hoyles marina and Linwood that most of the tourney guys stay at. The Huron Trail Motel 1-989-684-3940 and the Northland Motel 1-989-667-0738. Both I believe need a credit card to reserve and hold a reservation date. Both are just South of Linwood road and the tiny town of Linwood. There are others though North of there in Pinconning, but not really that many. Pleanty in Bay City but only a few that would accomodate easily parking a fishing rig.

If you get strapped finding a place, I could talk to the warden and see if we could put you up for the few days of the tourney. I'm 11 miles from Hoyles. Could even pre-fish with you if you both wanted/needed me to and my own charter schedule didn't interfere. Give me a call when you get into town Monday night or Tuesday morning and know what your on the ice/off the ice timetable is going to be. We could meet at the Linwood Motel Bar and grill on Tuesday afternoon, if your coming off the ice for lunch. My business phone is 1-989-892-1920.

Rookie.

I was thinking the same thing when I was keel hauling those tubs up through a 6 inch hole, and was going to mention that fact, but didn't want to start that East versus West thing on this board.

Yeah, your right there to Dan. Don't need any more controversy.

The west is always the best!

But I wish I could be there this week when you and that "wasskly wabbit Rick" go out! Sorry I couldn't make it. I'm sure you two will have fun without me.:(

Jack.

I'm thinking the only OUT I'll be doing is at the Bar when they come in for lunch (if they do) or a special redezvous after their trip on Tuesday. My bud was out yesterday morning and he said he was a solid sheet of ice by the time he stopped his 4 wheeler to fish. Only caught one walleye and a white fish and said he had done the best around him. I've been invited back to St.Lukes Bay and I think I'll be saving both my energy and equipment for that gig versus a wet a$$ on the Bay.
