Subject: Duane Hjelm Leads Day 1 NWT On Sakakawea

Over 100 boats headed out on Sakakawea this morning with light winds and partly cloudy skies. The guys we talked with this morning have been making long runs west up to 120 miles one way and stopping for gas at least once a day. The bite has been tough close to Garrison and the fish are cooperating further west. Sounds like jigs and minnows are the key while fishing shallow water. The boats are due back in by 3pm and the day one weigh in will be held at Fort Stevenson State Park Marina.

Pro angler Duane Hjelm is in the lead with an impressive 23.51 pounds on day 1. Jason Votara is close behind with 22.52 and Nick Shertz is in third place with 21.32 pounds. Lots of fish brought to the stage today!
