Location: Rhinelander | The 291 boat field left today under partly cloudy skies and warm temps. The winds are down some but still promise to be an issue out of the SSW at up to 18, with a chance of a thunderstorm thrown in for good measure.
No one expects the bite to improve much as the wind is still strong enough to mud up a good portion of Winnebago, so it's pretty much anyone's event to win if the team weighed 10# plus yesterday.
The weigh in will begin at about 1:30 this afternoon. The winning team will go home pulling a brand new Tracker 18' boat fully rigged and powered by a Mercury Verado engine and $4000.00 for a total top prize value of $39500.00.
Mercury used the rest of the first place money to bolster the cash payout, making second worth $10,000.00.

Location: Rhinelander | Shawn Kahut & Brett Walser take the win at the 2017 Mercury Marine National Walleye Tournament with a total weight of 31.42. the team was fishing a combination of flies and jigs to put the winning weight in the boat. They took home a new 18' tracker ready to roll rigged with a 200 Verado, trolling motor and sonar worth over $35000 and a check for $4000.
Second and a check for $10000 went to Jon Boedeker and Brad Vetter with a total of 22.60. Third belongs to Brian Arneson and Christopher Pickhardt, fourth to Kyle Harmsen and Joseph Durant and Ryan Deeg and Chris Spiering round out the top five.
